Dr. Matteo is certified through the American Naturopathic Medical Association Board. This is a National board that regulates and certifies Naturopathic Doctors. Graduating in 1991 from the Holistic College of Health and Nutrition in Utah, with a Doctor of Naturopathy and Master Herbalist degree. Her education and specialties include Iris analysis (iridology), Bio-Kinesiology (muscle response testing), Reflexology, Acupressure, Aromatherapy, Bach flower Remedies, Homeopathy, Holistic nutrition, Urine and Saliva testing (pH balancing), and Applied Western, Chinese and Ayurvedic herbal therapy. She also teaches alternative healing and applied natural therapies. She is also a Health Freedom Activist and is on the Steering Committee for Colorado 4 Health Freedom and The Coalition for Natural Health Colorado Chapter. She has been a independent manager with Nature’s Sunshine since 1982 and a director level for Stem Tech Health Sciences which is the only company with a natural botanical that triggers the release of your own bodies adult stem cells. In the late 80’s, she was one of the first few people with a chewable Colostrum Product available. She lectured extensively on the benefits of Colostrum for the Immune system. In 1991 she provided the documented research on Colostrum to friend and mentor, world renowned Dr. Bernard Jensen, DC, PhD., for his book “Life’s First Food, the Colostrum Story”.
Dr. Matteo’s journey into alternative therapy began over 30 years ago in 1977 when she gave birth to her second child. Born with profound mental retardation and multiple handicaps due to a massive stroke, he was not expected to live 6 months. Her quest began. The approach was to assure the best possible quality of life for her child. With the combined knowledge of modern medicine and historical uses of herbs and other natural remedies, Todd was able to reach the age of twelve years. Living in the Denver area presented the opportunity to meet knowledgeable practitioners of Natural healing. She sought out teachers who offered the advice of natural whole foods, herbs, vitamins, minerals. This knowledge was applied to his daily regime. In spite of purchasing supplements from a variety of suppliers, his health continued to deteriorate. By his fourth birthday she was told by medical experts that he could not be helped, and was advised to face reality and plan his funeral.
Not discouraged--- she sought out others. Soon she met a young women, who had overcome liver cancer by using Alternative healing. Seeing a light at the end of her tunnel, she immediately placed him on a complete program of only Nature’s Sunshine Products. Within two weeks it was evident that improvements were taking place. A profound difference occurred about four months later when he was fully withdrawn from his medications. Using the guidance of her herbalist and the advisement from her son’s Australian born physician, his quality of life dramatically improved. She was able to sustain eight more years of life for him due to the quality and integrity of Nature’s Sunshine Products.
Dr. Matteo believes everyone has someone that loves them. When someone is ill, it affects everyone involved with that person. When you help assist someone to regain their health, you heal not just them, but an entire family.
